Joy of Creative Friends

Creativity all around

I went to a wonderful wedding and was pleased to see so much creativity, by the brides, by my friends and by artisans of all types.

I made my dress.  It came out ok, but since I added extra panels it looks a bit odd right around the empire waist, so I made a sash to cover that.  By the end of the night, the sash was off- it was a bit restrictive.

My friend hosted the prenuptial wedding night sleepover and made signs to greet the wedding party as we came in.  The breakfast menu she made was so cute!

The bride made sugar rose centerpieces for all the tables, with a large glass candle jar with pictures of the brides.  She also made sugar flower corsages and the cake topper.  Her work with flowers was amazing!  They looked real.  cake toppersugarroses

Instead of doing a traditional wedding speech, the bridal party made a skit that referred to the couple’s love of Dragoncon.  We did a convention panel referring to their hit TV series that was now going to be made into a movie.  We had a blast.  A bunch of people didn’t understand what we were doing, but the brides got all the inside jokes, so that’s what mattered to us.

There was so much creativity and love put into this wedding.  Friends helped out with the photography and made sure to have special groupings done.  Another friend sang “Marry Me” with the accompaniment of the guitar playing of yet another friend.  Family members wrote advice to the couple and read it out during the ceremony.  The brides had thought about the many little children who would be attending the reception and gave them a huge box full of balloons.  The balloons were taken out and the box became a house, a fort, a tunnel, and at one point, a hat.  The party favors were dice bags filled with an “emergency game kit” with dice, cards and game instructions to keep handy at all times.  Paper, stickers and pens were put out for people to leave messages for the brides.

It wasn’t just home-made creativity that impressed me- we also had our hair done professionally.  I don’t have a picture of my own hair, but here are some examples.hair2hair1

All in all, it was a celebration of joy and love, pulled together by creativity.  Very inspirational.

Yes, creativity was everywhere! I was a beautiful wedding. I am so glad I was able to be a part of it, both as a singer & a friend.
