Library Passport: #Nassaufreelibrary

Nassau Free Library

No, I didn’t go to the Bahamas, or even to Nassau County.  Nassau Free Library is out in the pretty countryside in Rensselaer County. The building is an old house, built upon over the years.  Their most recent renovation put in a meeting room in the basement.

Ramp entry in the back of the building.

Front desk has monitor with a slideshow of event information.  The quilt on the wall behind the desk was made for the library.

Plans are underway to improve the records room, which is currently not wheelchair accessible.  The teen area has a cute idea- a magnetic poetry area on the back of the filing cabinets.

.

New mysteries are on display separately from other genres.

A recent construction grant allowed the library to renovate the basement into a large community room.  A chair lift give some accessibility to the room.  Instead of a pull-down screen, they chose to us a large tv, which makes sense for the space.

Jane is visiting all 36 locations of the Upper Hudson Library System (see introduction)

This is my kind of library: shove as many books as possible into the space. 🙂 That always feels welcoming to me.
